They discovered that the high-frequency noise was sporadic, exacerbated by the intricate layout of residential estates, communal gardens, and building service facilities. The presence of multiple sound reflections among the high-rise towers further complicated the situation.
To address the issue, the EPD employed the Nor848 acoustic camera, equipped with 128 digital microphones—expandable to 384. The Nor848’s high-resolution sound mapping and real-time virtual microphone capabilities allowed for precise audio isolation from specific directions, effectively filtering out irrelevant noise sources.
After rigorous late-night investigations, the EPD successfully traced the noise to a specific residential unit. The disturbance was caused by defective utilities, which the property management has since addressed. The deployment of the Nor848 significantly reduced the investigation time, highlighting the EPD’s commitment to leveraging the latest technological advancements in environmental management.
